 The Mall: The Mall is the main shopping centre of Shimla. It also has many restaurants, clubs, banks, bars etc. The Mall starts from Chhota Shimla to Viceregal Lodge, which is approximately five Km long stretch. This area has also been declared a 'Heritage Zone' by the State Government. The vehicles are not allowed into Mall road except ambulance and fire engines. There are many old beautiful buildings standing on Mall Road.

The Ridge: This large open space in the heart of town presents excellent views of the mountain ranges.

Christ Church: The most prominent building on the Mall is the yellow Christ Church built in 1857, reputed to be the second oldest church in northern India. It was designed by Colonel JT Boileau in 1844.

Scandal Point: Scandal Point remains the hub of Shimla’s social life; it is the place where people gathered for both conversation and gossip. Now it is also known as the meeting place of the local Shimla.

Viceregal Lodge (Built in 1888)/ Indian Institute of Advanced Study: Built Between 1884 - 1888 by chief architect Henry Irwin. The building resembles a Scottish baronial castle. This was the first building with electric light in Shimla. This was the venue of the Simla Conference in 1945. In 1947, the decision to partition India and East Pakistan (now Bangladesh), was taken here. After independence 1947, building became the property of the President of India and was renamed Rashtrapati Niwas. Now it houses the Indian Institute of Advance Study and is open only in some parts to the public. (closed on Monday and Gazetted Holidays)

Jhaku Temple/ Hill (2455 Mts.): No visit to the state capital Shimla is complete without visiting Jakhu Hill. This is the town's highest peak and a vantage point for Shimla's famous views. The summit is crowned with a temple dedicated to monkey god Hanuman. The hill is full of paths and narrow roads which are enjoyable walk. This is the highest hill in Shimla at an altitude of 2,455 mts. above sea level and offers a panoramic view of the city and snow capped mountains.

Travel in a jeep till Khatnol village. Here we start the ascent. The trail goes through lovely dense forest teeming with an amazing variety of bird life. Chances of spotting the Himalayan Bear and the elusive Monal Pheasant are quite good. The Shali Peak (2867 mts.) is the highest peak in the vicinity of Shimla. It is a magnificent isolated pinnacle with a Kali temple on the top. The peak commands an unforgettable view of endless snow covered ranges along with the Sutlej valley and the densely forested hills of Shimla, Fagu and Narkanda.

Tour 06: Heritage walk in Shimla / 05 hrs walking tour

The starting point of this walk is from the Shimla Club Building at one end of the Mall Road. This walk is through the town's Architectural Heritage Zone that brings you close to various architectural sites of British era. The walk from Simla Club to the Vice Regal lodge passes through  Hotel Clarks , Combermere bridge, Mall Road, Christ Church, The Ridge, Bandstand, Gaiety Theater, Town hall, Scandal Point, General Post office building( Connie Cottage), Telegraph office, Grand hotel ( Bentinck’s Castel),  Railway Board Building, Gorton Castle (Accountant General’s office), State Legislative building( Council chambers), Kennedy cottag, Hotel Cecil, State Museum (Museum remain closed on Monday and on all government holidays)and reach at Viceregal Lodge (Museum remain closed on Monday and on all government holidays) which is now a days know as Indian Institute Of Advance studies. Tour 07: Mashobra Village with Naldehra trek / 03 hrs walking tour

Mashobra(2146 mts.) : In the morning after breakfast depart Shimla by Car(40 minutes drive). Reach Mashobra which is the starting point of the trek. Mashobra is a small village which holds a magnificent view of the valley.

From Mashobra descend into woods and after walking for 2 km you are in a thick pine forest and nearby to it is about 500 yrs old Shiva temple (Sipur). Continue descending down to village Mulkoti and visit this small local village and walk through small terraces to explore the rich flora of Himalayas. It is a 01 hour beautiful trek . from here drive to Naldehra and then back to Shimla

Naldehra (2044 mts.): Naldehra is 22 km from Shimla town and surrounded by beautiful deodar trees. This is a nine hole par 68 golf course. It was designed by the British Viceroy, Lord Curzon in 1903, who was so enchanted by the place that he even named a daughter after this spot, Alexandre Naldehra as her second name. The annual Sipi fair in June is held at Naldehra. It is a lovely, popular picnic spot and small walks through the thick forest of deodar can also be possible.

Tour 08: Hatu Peak trek / 03 hrs hike

Shimla to Narkanda is 01.30 hrs one way drive and 02 hrs trek to Hatu Peak through the dense forest.

Hatu Peak is an adventurous trek which starts from Narkanda offers splendid views of the snow clad Himalayan peaks. Hatu peak trek is also a good weekend trek if one is planning for night out camping.

For the rulers of the erstwhile hill states, Hatu Peak was of great strategic importance because of its commanding position. It was accepted as a boundary between the states. The Gorkhas captured it early in the 19th century and established a fort at the top of Hatu Peak. Later, the British ousted them from the Hatu heights.

The peak can be accessed by a bike or a car or on foot. At the top of the peak, the verdant views of the mountains around and Hatu Mata temple grace the travelers with their majestic presence. Overall the 07 Km long stretch from Narkanda to Hatu Peak takes capprox. 03 hrs to trek.
